The co-founder of the Wetumpka Tea Party has announced she is running against Martha Roby to represent Alabama’s 2nd Congressional district.

Becky Gerritson, who founded the Wetumpka Tea Party in 2009, met with some residents at Golden Corral in Dothan on Friday and expressed disappointment in Roby’s tenure in Washington.

“I feel like the voice that we have representing us in Washington right now is representing the establishment in Washington, not her constituents,” said Gerritson, who also said she’s concerned about the state of the Republican Party.

She said career politicians are among the biggest problems facing the country.
