Wetumpka Tea Party co-founder and congressional candidate Becky Gerritson argued that she’s a better fit for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District than U.S. Rep. Martha Roby, R-Montgomery, who has held that office since 2011.
“She isn’t representing us in Washington,” Gerritson said of Roby during her campaign’s open house and launch party Monday night on Court Street in Wetumpka. “This is a very conservative district and every conservative organization rates her tenure in Congress as a failure.”
Gerritson, who testified before Congress over the scandal that embroiled the IRS involving targeting of conservative groups, including the Wetumpka Tea Party, said Roby’s record is less conservative than the Democrat Roby replaced, Bobby Bright.
