Wetumpka Tea Party founder and congressional candidate Becky Gerritson is challenging her rival in the Republican primary, U.S. Rep Martha Roby, R-Ala., to debate her, accusing Roby of not answering criticisms on her record.

“Martha loves to hide behind her false, slick campaign ads, but has yet to address her constituents on any of the issues that matter most to them,” Gerritson said in a statement. “The people of the Second District deserve better, they have woken up, and they demand answers.”

Gerritson has said that she is running against Roby, a two-term congresswoman, because she believes Roby isn’t conservative enough for the district.

Gerritson’s campaign said she would debate Roby “any time, any place.” Roby’s campaign said it wasn’t given an invitation to debate.
